The Fraggle Rock movie is closer than ever to being a reality, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to star. Variety reports that the HitRecord on TV star is working with Lisa Henson, daughter of the late Jim Henson, to produce the film for the big screen.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt to produce and star in Fraggle Rock movie

"Jim Henson's characters make you laugh and sing."
“Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise,” Gordon-Levitt said in a statement. “Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project.”
Fraggle Rock, which debuted back in 1983, followed the musical lives of the creatures that inhabit the eponymous Fraggle Rock. Fraggle Rock: The Movie has been in development since 2005, when the Jim Henson Company officially announced that it was working on a film adaptation with the original cast. However, the film fell into a long development hell, with the property being snapped up by New Regency after the distribution deal with the Weinstein Company expired in 2011. Hopefully signing Gordon-Levitt means things can really get on their way.
