Samsung finally made the Galaxy S6 as ugly as possible

Samsung is once again creating a tougher (and uglier) model of its flagship phone that’s shock, dust, and water resistant. The phone, called the Galaxy S6 Active, is being announced today as an AT&T exclusive. AT&T will begin offering it on June 12th at a price that’s just a touch higher than the standard S6, at $23.17 per month on a Next 24 plan (that makes it just shy of $700 total), up from the S6’s $22.84. It’s available in three styles: white camo, blue camo, and gray — they’re all a significant step down from the S6 proper.

The device is by and large the same as the S6, but it’s a bit more appealing than prior Active models. Unlike the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S6 isn’t water resistant. That’s a really great feature for a phone to have, which makes the S6 Active stand out a bit more from its namesake. It also includes a much more substantial battery, 3500mAh, up from the S6’s 2550mAh. Otherwise, you’re looking at the same 5.1-inch, 577 PPI display and 16 megapixel camera, as well as an octa-core processor from Samsung. If you can handle the style, it should be a fine alternative to the standard S6.
