Apple is postponing the release of watchOS 2, the first major update to the Apple Watch’s operating system, after discovering an unspecified bug in the software. Today’s launch of iOS 9 will proceed as planned, but Apple Watch owners will need to wait a bit longer for native third-party apps and other new features included with watchOS 2. An Apple spokesperson confirmed the delay in a statement to The Verge, saying “We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected. We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.” We don’t yet know the nature of the bug that’s pushed back Apple’s plans, but will update this story if the company shares more details.
