Swedish House Mafia’s frontman Steve Angello has signed on to executive produce a scripted television series themed around electronic dance music, Variety reports. The series, which is still in the early stages of development, will chronicle “DJ culture” and the world of clubbing, and will be soundtracked by Angello’s music.

"The Drop" is already taken
The series is one of several upcoming shows attempting to cash in on EDM’s recent surge in popularity. One of those shows is CW’s The Drop, which also named Angello as an executive producer. And Canadian DJ duo DVBBS tweeted last year that they were going to begin filming a series for Netflix.
Last fall, the Zac Efron-starring EDM vessel We Are Your Friends ended up being little more than a box office failure, but maybe the television series format will prove more appealing to EDM die-hards. Angello’s second EDM series doesn’t have a title or a home yet, but Variety reports “a couple of venues have expressed interest.”
