Last Tuesday, a massive sinkhole opened up across a five-lane street in the Japanese city of Fukuoka. Today, the street reopened. It took about two days for workers to completely mend the sinkhole, according to The Guardian, and a few more days after that for officials to perform the required safety checks on the road.

The sinkhole, which was 98 feet wide and 49 feet deep, opened at 5AM local time last week. Although it caused power outages in the area, no one was injured, The Guardian reports. A team of construction workers not only filled the sinkhole and repaved the street in record time, but also repaired a sewage pipe and replaced utility poles and traffic lights.
Local officials believe the sinkhole was caused by nearby underground construction. According to The Guardian, the mayor of Fukuoka, Soichiro Takashima, says the street is now 30 times stronger than it was before.
