As we roll through Election Day, voters around the country are sharing photos of their ballots on social media. Among those is Eric Trump, who tweeted out a completed ballot for his father this morning. One small problem: the photo was probably illegal.
Eric Trump broke the law with this ballot photo tweet

He has since the deleted the tweet.
New York, where Eric Trump lives, has a law on the books making it a misdemeanor if anyone "shows his ballot after it is prepared for voting, to any person so as to reveal the contents." Similar "ballot selfie" laws are in place in several states around the US.
The laws have proven controversial. In New York, a legal challenge nearly succeeded, but a judge ruled last week that changing the law would cause too much confusion ahead of the election.
It may be too late for Eric Trump, but we broke down the laws state by state here.
Watch: Want to rig the election? Good luck.
