A trio of Resident Evil games is on its way to modern consoles. Today Capcom announced that Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6, will all be coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year. The games appear to be largely straight ports without much in the way of improvements for the newer hardware. Things begin next month with Resident Evil 6 launching on March 29th, followed by 5 in the summer and 4 in the fall. Each game will cost you $19.99, and in the case of 6 it will also come bundled with all of the post-launch downloadable content.

The trilogy of games marked a big shift for the franchise. Prior to Resident Evil 4, the series was about slow-moving horror, but the 2005 Gamecube release introduced more action-oriented gameplay and is widely considered the pinnacle of the franchise (it’s also been ported to a wide range of platforms, including the Nintendo Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360). Subsequent games were less well-received, but introduced new features, like the ability to play co-op as multiple characters with interweaving stories in RE 6.
