Darwin. Hawking. Einstein. Tesla. Newton. Curie. Pythagoras of Samos. Each one has expanded our understanding of the physical world. And yet, somehow, we’ve never honored these luminaries with a 16-bit fighting game, until now.
Imagine Street Fighter but with history’s greatest scientists
For an upcoming game being developed by a team of developers working within Superinteressante magazine aptly titled Science Kombat, illustrator Diego Sanches created a number of pixel-art animations that endow these heralded scientists with the power of their discoveries for the express purpose of 2D fighting.
According to Fred Di Giacomo, one of the executive producers on the game (whose previous work includes Filosofighters), Science Kombat is on track for release by the end of April. In the meantime, we can at least enjoy Sanches’ work and imagine how Darwin would evolve his fist into Einstein’s solar plexus. As the saying goes, “I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by a series of joystick twists and intricate button combinations.”
