Apple’s smaller iPad Pro will reportedly start at $599

Apple is just days away from unveiling a new iPhone and 9.7-inch iPad Pro, and today 9to5Mac is reporting that you can expect to pay at least $599 for the latter. The smaller iPad Pro will start at a higher price than any 9.7-inch that’s come before it, but at least for that money you’ll be getting a bump in storage. The base iPad Pro will contain 32GB of storage, and 9to5Mac claims Apple will also offer a 128GB model. That matches the larger-sized iPad Pro in storage configurations, whereas the iPad Air 2 comes in 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB options. The new iPad isn’t replacing the Air 2 in Apple’s tablet lineup, according to the report, nor should consumers expect a price drop on the current device.

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro will match its larger counterpart in many areas, with an A9X processor, four speakers, support for Apple’s Pencil stylus, and a Smart Connector that will allow it to work with a new, smaller Smart Keyboard that should also debut at Monday’s event. 9to5Mac also notes that the latest iPad Pro will actually gain a 12-megapixel camera that records 4K video, compared to the 8-megapixel sensor in the 12.9-inch model. We’ll be live at Apple’s event Monday for all the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch announcements as they come.
