Giphy is freeing its Android app from the clutches of Facebook Messenger with an update that’ll let GIFs be shared to other apps. Giphy launched on Messenger in 2014, offering a way to search for GIFs and insert them into conversations. It made the app weirdly limited — even though you could find the perfect GIF with it, you were stuck using them inside of Messenger. In October, Giphy revamped its iOS app to free it from Messenger. Now five months later, it’s doing the same on Android.
