One of Steam’s biggest competitors is launching a new feature to try to lure users away from Valve’s digital PC store. Today GOG — formerly known as Good Old Games — announced GOG Connect, a new tool that lets users connect a Steam account and import select games to their GOG library. The company describes it as a way to “grow or jumpstart your GOG.com library.”

At present, however, the number of supported games is relatively small, with just over 20 titles available to transfer from Steam to GOG. That’s a far cry from the thousands of Steam games, but GOG’s list does include some big-name titles, including Jonathan Blow’s The Witness and the very first Witcher game. The list of available games will also change over time. “These are limited-time offers made possible by participating developers and publishers,” the company says, “so stay tuned as we bring new titles onboard in the future.”

GOG has been making a strong push to compete with Steam over the last year or so, and the new “connect” feature is just the latest move. Last year, the company launched a new client called GOG Galaxy, that was similar to Steam but with several important changes, most notably the lack of DRM. Since then GOG has also released a handful of useful features, such as the ability to roll back troublesome game updates.
