Former One Direction member Zayn Malik is teaming up with Law & Order creator and executive producer Dick Wolf to make a TV show about a boy band.

The show, called Boys, will focus on the thrills and insane pressures of being young and getting “catapulted into fame at a dizzying speed,” Variety reports. It will also feature original music, presumably so it can create another One Direction in the process of delivering a One Direction post-mortem.

it's called boys

Details about the project are scant, but we know it will be written by Beauty and the Beast co-creators Sherri Cooper Landsman and Jennifer Levin. Co-creator Noelle Wolf told Variety, “we were intrigued by the synergistic potential that Zayn brings to the project,” though it’s not clear exactly what Malik’s role will be.

He has been outspoken about his time in One Direction, telling Fader last November that he knew he "wanted to go home" from the very beginning of his five years with the band. Malik has had reportedly very little contact with the remaining members of One Direction, who announced an indefinite hiatus at the beginning of this year.

In short, Boys sounds like Nashville, but for boy bands — on paper, an excellent sales pitch. Also, it is going to ruin my life.
