Amazon launches virtual Dash buttons for even faster ordering

Amazon Dash buttons are Wi-Fi-connected gadgets that let you order certain branded items from Amazon without having to go to the website. They’ve been so successful, an Amazon spokesperson tells Recode, that Amazon is now putting virtual Dash buttons on its website and in its app, finally letting Prime members order goods from Amazon.com.

What?

Well, think of them as an even more streamlined version of 1-Click ordering. You can put the virtual buttons on your homepage and tap or click them to order the associated products without having to search for them. Amazon will also automatically create buttons for items that you order often or have recently ordered.

The virtual Dash buttons are free, of course, but that’s not necessarily a huge advantage. While the physical buttons cost $4.99, you get that money back in Amazon credit the first time you use each button, so they’re basically free as well.
