On Saturday, January 21st, in the wake of President Donald Trump being sworn into office, more than three million women — and men — of all ages marched in cities around the US and vocalized support women’s rights and for broader equality. Protests have not been uncommon since the new US president was elected in November, but this one stood out for two reasons: first, for the sheer volume of people participating, not just in the US but around the globe; and because, by almost all accounts, the worldwide marches were peaceful events.
