Boiler Room, the underground music collective that’s been streaming DJ sets online since 2010, has just released its first virtual reality stream. The company partnered with Google to make the video — a 15-minute set from Berlin DJ trio FJAAK — compatible with Daydream VR.

Boiler Room is calling the experience VR Dancefloors: Techno in Berlin. Using a Daydream View controller, users will be able to move through the Berlin club, view art installations, and interact with their surroundings. Boiler Room is describing it as a kind of “choose your own adventure” game, with hidden spaces, “interaction points,” and various rooms available to explore.

“Boiler Room’s MO has always centered around using the latest accessible technology to unite online audiences around real-life music moments,” Steven Appleyard, Boiler Room’s chief business development officer, said in a statement. “This is why VR excites us: it represents the next stage of immersive, interactive, online music experience.”
Google’s choice of Boiler Room as a partner makes sense. Since its inception, Boiler Room has managed to thrive because of its dedication to making exclusive, intimate shows available for anyone to watch. And the collective already draws a loyal community of music nerds who might not be familiar with Daydream, but who trust Boiler Room to curate their listening experiences.
VR Dancefloors: Techno in Berlin is available on the Inception VR app for Pixel and Google Daydream users.
