The Manimals, a glam rock / punk band from Brooklyn that recorded a Game of Thrones-themed concept album last year called SEVEN, just released its first official music video. It’s a fun time, and I recommend it to anyone who’s trying to get hyped about Arya Stark as their first-round Game of Thrones fantasy league pick.

With tons of goofy slo-mo, the video follows guitarists Michael Jayne, Jack Breslin, and Chris Norwood, drummer Matt O’Koren, and lead vocalist Haley Bowery, as they make the trip from NYC to Nashville for the first-ever Game of Thrones fan convention. The trip is intercut with footage from the band’s performance at the convention, where Bowery made quick costume changes to become Daenerys Targaryen, Brienne of Tarth, Cersei Lannister, and the little murderer who inspired this song: the youngest Stark sisters and a trained assassin with a lengthy hit list.

The lyrics of “Teeth” are a litany of Game of Thrones references, from “Dark wings, dark words” to “Is it true that summer’s over? I thought this would go much slower,” and center around the idea of Arya as “The Wolf Bitch” (a nickname Sandor Clegane once gave her). I’m pretty into it, in particular because it calls out the signature Stark phrase “When the lone wolf dies, the pack survives” — which reminds me that I’m still waiting for Arya’s direwolf Nymeria to emerge from the woods with a wild, semi-militarized wolf pack.

Anyway, if you’re counting down the hours to this Sunday’s season 7 premiere of Game of Thrones, this crossover could be a good way to pass a few of them. The song goes beyond its gimmick to be independently enjoyable as an afternoon bop, and I for one am having a perfectly pleasant midday break watching someone else eat a cupcake and then sing about murder. Cake for lunch!
