The feature was first launched on the Android version of the app a year ago, and the iOS update works much in the same way: the panes will display information on things like local ATMs, places to eat and drink, traffic times for commuting, and updated train or bus schedules for public transit. Swipe up, and you can expand the menus for a more comprehensive look.
The new feature should be rolling out to Google Maps users on iOS today.
