Four years ago, Smash Bros. boss Masahiro Sakurai infamously claimed that it would “probably be impossible” to add Ridley — the massive, dragon-like boss character from Metroid — to his fighting game series. Well, it turns out that he’s managed to pull off the impossible: today Nintendo revealed that Ridley is one of the new additions to the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Switch. Ridley joins the inkling characters from Splatoon as new fighters in the game, but for Ultimate much of the focus is on the past; the game will feature a massive roster of fighters that includes every single character from past Smash Bros. titles. It’s coming out on December 7th.
