The UK’s getting protective over its chips.
Over a year ago Nexperia, a subsidiary of Chinese company Wingtech, acquired the UK’s largest microchip factory. But now the British government wants the deal unwound, citing national security concerns.
Bloomberg notes that it’s the second acquisition by a Chinese company to be blocked under the UK’s new National Security and Investment Act. Nexperia says it disagrees with the decision, and will appeal.
