It seems like everyone lately is asking ChatGPT, a new chatbot from OpenAI running on GPT-3.5, questions. I’ve watched it generate small fictional opuses about the characters of Avengers and pen a whole laptop review in the style of Joanna Stern. But Professor Tom Goldstein didn’t have to ask the chatbot a single thing to math out how much it might be costing OpenAI to run the bot. He estimates it’s approximately $100,000 per day.
