Please let Jonathan Majors explain how Creed III has the heart of shonen anime.

Creed III director Michael B. Jordan has been and continues to be a big-ol anime nerd, and in a new Polygon interview, he gets into how Naruto inspired one of the pivotal fights in his new film.

But while Jordan may be quick to wax poetic about the nuances between Dragon Ball Z and My Hero Academia, his co-star Jonathan Majors has come to understand something about shonen stories that we should all take to heart: they’re derivative.
