Neva is the follow-up to one of the most gorgeous games I’ve ever played, and it’s coming to the PS5 (along with Xbox, Switch, and PC) sometime in 2024.
I wouldn’t call the OG a great game, but I thought Polygon’s 2015 take was spot-on: it’s a game about making dumb, dumb mistakes while blasting aliens and laughing at your friends. Nothing like squishing allies with an ill-timed drop pod! Originally isometric, the just-announced sequel is full 3D like Earth Defense Force, another guilty pleasure of mine.
In just about an hour it’s time for the first big gaming event of the summer: Sony’s PlayStation Showcase 2023. We’re expecting news on the company’s biggest franchises (including its new live service push), as well as a few surprises.
