The U.S. Agriculture Department has given approval to Upside Foods and Good Meat to begin selling chicken derived from cultivated cells. This would be the first lab grown meat sold in America and the intended market will be “upscale restaurants” according to AP News. Both companies have joined a bevy of other biotech firms in a race to secure funding and be the first companies to unseat big traditional meat processors like Tyson, JBS, and Cargill.
