Apple and Broadcom owe Caltech $1.1 billion after the Supreme Court spurned their challenge.
In 2016, Caltech sued Apple and Broadcom over patent violations in Apple product Wi-Fi chips. A federal jury in 2020 awarded Caltech over $837.8 million from Apple and $270.2 million from Broadcom.
The companies appealed the decision, saying they weren’t allowed to challenge the patents’ validity, but today, the Supreme Court declined to hear the case.
