Red Bull has a really interesting lookback on the Sony VX-1000, the camcorder that came out in 1995 and was quickly adopted by skaters as their equipment of choice.
There are many reasons the VX-1000 is considered the best skate video camera ever, even today, 28 years later, but two features stand out for changing the way skating was captured: the built-in handle and its microphones. Things are sharper and in higher resolution today, but if you ask me, the tricks look and sound better on the VX-1000.
