Samsung’s latest Unpacked event is scheduled for January 17th, though, surprisingly, we’ve heard few rumors concerning Samsung’s next pair of wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Even if Samsung doesn’t debut them next week, we still expect it to continue to roll out new software tricks for the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro — which happen to be on sale at Woot in black or white for $129.99 ($100 off), an all-time low.

Despite having launched nearly two years ago, the Buds 2 Pro remain a terrific pair of noise-canceling earbuds, particularly for Galaxy phone owners. They’re both smaller and better-sounding than the first-gen model, and they offer a notable selection of Samsung-only features, including one-touch setup, head-tracking spatial audio, and the ability to automatically switch between Samsung devices. The comfortable, step-up buds also support wireless charging and 24-bit audio on Samsung phones, which, when paired with the right music streaming service, should result in even richer sound quality... even if Samsung doesn’t tell you when it’s active.

Samsung’s excellent-sounding Galaxy Buds 2 Pro introduce support for 24-bit audio and have a lighter, smaller, more comfortable in-ear fit than the first Buds Pros.

If you haven’t been keeping up on the saga that’s Apple’s ongoing patent dispute with Masimo, just know that you can still buy the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 — well, at least for the time being. What’s more, the Apple Watch Series 9 is on sale in multiple styles at Amazon and Best Buy starting at $329 ($70 off), nearly matching its all-time low.

From the get-go, the Apple Watch has always been the best smartwatch for Apple users. The latest mainline model, the Series 9, doesn’t reinvent the wheel but rather refines things with a brighter display, a new S9 SiP processor, and a second-gen ultra wideband chip that allows for more accurate Precision Finding if you own an iPhone 15. The upgraded hardware also lets you take advantage of onboard Siri processing and Apple’s handy double-tap feature, the latter of which lets you carry out various actions by simply tapping your thumb and index finger together. None of the new features are likely to be game-changing if you own a newer Apple Watch model like the last-gen Series 8, but hey, if it ain’t broke...

The Apple Watch Series 9 features the company’s last-gen S9 processor, which paved the way for offline Siri use and Apple’s double tap gesture. It also has the second-gen ultra wideband chip for Precision Finding if you have an iPhone 15 or 16.

The Apple Watch Series 9 represents a slight upgrade over the prior model, the Apple Watch Series 8. It uses Apple’s S9 SiP processor and second-gen ultra wideband chip, though there aren’t many significant differences beyond that.

  • The original Sonos Move might not offer stereo sound or support for inline playback like the second-gen model, but it is on sale at Sonos right now in white for $299 ($100 off). The first-gen wireless speaker still touts plenty of power, support for both Bluetooth and Apple’s AirPlay 2, and all the benefits of the Sonos ecosystem. It also supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant — something that can’t be said of the newer model. Read our review.
  • If you’re hoping to outfit your home with some smart lightning on the cheap, Nanoleaf’s Essentials Matter smart lights are available from Amazon and direct from Nanoleaf for $14.99 ($5 off). The inexpensive, color A19 bulbs are brighter than Philips Hue bulbs and easier to set up thanks to their support for the new Matter standard, though keep in mind you will need a Matter controller to use them outside of Nanoleaf’s app. Read our review.
  • Now through Tuesday, January 16th, Verge readers can score 20 percent off Speck’s entire lineup of accessories when they use promo code 20VERGE at checkout. There’s a lot on offer, including screen protectors and cases for various wireless earbuds, much of which is solid when you can find it at a good price. Obviously, the prices vary based on the category, with cases like the Presidio2 Pro MagSafe case for the iPhone 15 going for $39.99 ($10 off).
  • The Shokz OpenMove are currently matching their all-time low of $54.99 ($25 off) at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. They may look a little odd, but I’ve always found the entry-level bone conduction headphones to be a good option for running or biking, as they offer six hours of playback and a solid-enough IP55 rating for dust and water resistance. More importantly, they allow you to keep abreast of your surroundings without any sort of transparency mode.
  • If you truly can’t let go of live TV in the area of on-demand streaming, you can sign up for a month of Sling TV right now for just $20. The 50 percent discount is available to both new and returning subscribers regardless of whether you opt for the sports-centric Sling Orange option or the news-heavy Sling Blue tier, though, you’ll have to pay an extra $7.50 to access both.
