More from CES 2025: all the news, gadgets, and surprises

The long-awaited Competitor gamepad, which brings a PlayStation-like symmetrical stick layout to the Xbox, has been redesigned. Hyperkin announced the new version at CES with a separated D-pad, Hall effect joysticks and triggers, and two programmable back buttons.
It’s a wired-only gamepad and will be available sometime in the second quarter of 2025, with pricing still to be announced.

The company announced the price of the Bolt Mission UWB Plus NFC at CES this week. It’s Ultraloq’s first lock to support the new hands-free unlocking technology, and they say it will launch in Q1 2025. It will also support NFC for tap-to-unlock and Matter.
The Ultraloq Bolt Fingerprint Matter, which debuted at CES last year, will go on sale on January 7th for $199.
The new Vissani-branded air conditioners come in portable and window varieties. Like the retailer’s other connected Hubspace products, you can control them hub-free with the companion app or with voice using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Each has three modes (including a dehumidify setting) and will be available in varying sizes to cover a variety of room types.

The next version of JBL’s Bluetooth alarm clock features a larger design with two 1.5-inch speakers paired with dual passive radiators for improved sound. If you’re looking for a more gentle way to drift off or wake up, it can play relaxing nature sounds like ocean waves, or slowly illuminate a room with a built-in light to “help regulate circadian rhythms.”

If I still rode a motorcycle I’d be tempted by the Zumo R1 to increase my awareness about all the nearby cagers trying to kill me. Just not sure it’s worth $600, given the false positives I’ve seen produced by radar units I’ve tried on bicycles, in much less traffic.
Another day another Garmin watch iteration. The Instinct 3 is a ruggedized GPS smartwatch available with an OLED display — $450 to $500 — or long-lasting MIP display with an integrated solar charging lens — $400 to $450 — in 45mm and 50mm sizes.
If you buy something from a Verge link, Vox Media may earn a commission.
If I could have spent the first day of CES just playing this labor of love, featuring a host of incredible voice actors including Star Trek TNG’s Michael Dorn, I would have. Below is simply my first-hand proof it exists; you’ll get a far better sense from Stern Pinball’s three videos.
The Aurzen Zip folds down to fit my pocket with ease, attaches to MagSafe stands, and works in portrait and landscape! Too thin for full HDMI and no USB-C video, though — it mirrors your phone wirelessly.
And at 100 lumen brightness (or just 60 lumens if you want the quoted 90 minutes of battery life), you shouldn’t expect a big bright screen. $400, coming March.
It’s like an auto-sorting piggy bank — except here, it’s auto-sorting, charging (and occasionally discarding) rechargeable NiMH batteries for you. It still charges four at once like my Eneloop chargers... but it holds 32 at a time!
I spotted the $99-and-up Kickstarter project here at CES 2025. Didn’t stick around long enough for a full charge though.
