Microsoft says that the new Forza Motorsport title is still in “early development,” and the company has yet to announce a release window. It’s not even clear whether the new entry in the series will be called Forza Motorsport 8 at this point.
But the upcoming title will offer some big technical jumps, with promises of 4K / 60fps gameplay and the addition of more realistic ray-tracing lighting, allowing the surfaces of cars to reflect off each other and more detailed light and shadows.
It’s an exciting time for car simulation fans. As typically is the case with new console generations, Microsoft isn’t the only company turning to racing to show off the firepower of its new hardware; Sony has already announced that Gran Turismo 7 will be coming to the PlayStation 5.
The new Forza Motorsport is set to be available on Xbox Series X and Windows 10 (no Xbox One version was mentioned), and it will be offered through Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service. No release date has been announced.
