More from CES 2023: all the news from the year’s biggest tech conference

Sometimes I just go back to make sure things that happened at CES actually happened and Afeela definitely happened.
Sony and Honda just announced their new electric car brand, Afeela

Today our CES 2023 attention turns to the show floor, but let’s not be so hasty that we ignore Sony’s event last night.
That included not only a peek at the Gran Turismo movie (based on a real story) and the launch of “Afeela” as the brand name for its vehicle collaboration with Honda. Check out this video, we can run down the entire thing in under seven minutes.

The i Vision Dee is only a concept, but the car shown at CES uses real E Ink Prism 3 tech just announced. It lets product designers choose from eight colors that can be manufactured in any 2D shape to create rich, dynamic surfaces. And because it’s E Ink, it only consumes power when the displays are updated. It’s said to be “rugged” and “durable,” but there’s no mention of “repairable.”
