More from CES 2024: all the TVs, laptops, smart home gear, and more from the show floor
At CES, Acer announced the 57-inch Predator Z57, which as you might guess is a gigantic curved Mini LED display. Well, I’ve seen it in person and it’s as ridiculous as you’d think.
An Acer rep told me that it’s mostly meant for console gaming, given its 120Hz refresh rate but I was too busy staring at how wide this big boy was. It’s honestly hard to capture the curvy essence in photos — it’s truly overwhelming. But I’ve also included a picture with my head for scale.

Sony may again not be showing any TVs at CES this year, but it’s still going to take the stage to talk about “technologies and initiatives that support creators.” Last year, the company showed off an electric car called the Afeela, which had a built-in PS5 and a screen on the front.
The company has been tight-lipped about what it might show tonight. My money’s on a PS5 with a built-in car.

Razer put a Thunderbolt 5 port in its new Blade 18 laptop, which also now has a 4K 165Hz display. Here it is in the flesh at CES 2024 — admittedly in a dimly lit suite with nothing plugged in.
Don’t expect to charge-and-play with this port. The GPU alone can draw more than the current USB-C maximum of 240W. (See Razer’s beefy power socket on the left?) But do expect loads of bandwidth for monitors and peripherals.
Correction: Replaced image with an accurate one from Intel’s booth. Razer originally told us the left USB-C port was TBT5 as well.

It debuted the Roamii series at CES today, perfect for all your AR / VR entertainment, 4K / 8K streaming, and heavy-duty online gaming needs.
The routers are built with ultrawide 320MHz frequency bands, 4K-QAM, Multi-RU, and MLO (Multi-Link Operation) for fast internet speeds and minimal latency. No details yet on pricing or release date.
Dell’s new 27-inch 1440p QD-OLED Alienware gaming monitor costs $899.99 and goes on sale on January 11th as part of a new wave of 360Hz OLED monitors using panels from Samsung Display (MSI and Samsung itself also have versions on the way). For more resolution and less refresh rate, Dell’s also announcing a $1,199.99 32-inch 4K 240Hz version.
Asus is kicking 2024 off with a ROG keynote. That means it’s time for gaming laptops, monitors, and much more. You can watch Asus’ keynote below, starting at 3PM PT / 6PM ET / 11PM GMT. Stay tuned to The Verge for all the announcements from Asus at CES.
Nvidia only just announced its new RTX 40-series Super GPUs today at CES, but we’ve already got our hands on one. The RTX 4070 Super launches on January 17th at the same $599 price point as the original, but there are more CUDA cores to power 1440p gaming. It looks very similar to the RTX 4070, but Nvidia has picked a slightly darker shade of alloy frame.

Samsung is about to kick off its CES 2024 keynote presentation. You can expect to hear all about new TVs, smart home tech, and maybe even a few surprises.
But the throughline for everything discussed on stage will be AI. I’ve been to CES many times, and artificial intelligence has never dominated the show quite like this — and we’re only on day one.
The RayNeo X2 Lite AR Glasses come in at “just around” 60 grams, according to a press release, which is about half of the X2’s 120g weight, Mashable says. The glasses are tentatively set to launch in Q3, Mashable reports.
TCL is also gearing up for a global launch of the first X2 glasses... on Indiegogo, sometime in February.
While these days, CES pressers are little more than watching a video with some exec standing on stage talking about it, LG at least had the decency to physically roll out its much-anticipated Signature OLED T TV at its press conference today.
They did it with sufficient flair, and even from the fifth row it was impressive, the galaxy of shooting stars and rising moons making for an awesome display.
Still, a walking, talking robot demo would have been more impressive ...
