This startup is trying to disrupt your fridge.

Seattle-based Tomorrow is developing a new type of fridge with a “patent-pending cooling architecture” designed to extend the life of fresh produce.

The company says the cooling adapts based on what’s on your shelves, the fridge will keep track of food using AI-powered cameras, and that it can help you plan meals.

The Tomorrow fridge isn’t coming until next summer, but you can sign up to be notified today.

Homey’s new dashboards look sweet.

The new interfaces from the smart home platform are designed to make controlling connected devices easier. Available on iOS and Android, the customizable control panels are clearly inspired by Home Assistant’s popular dashboards and work with 25 Homey widgets plus widgets from third-party apps.

Level extends its Matter upgrade to its Bolt smart lock.

The company has launched a Matter-over-Thread version of the Bolt for $229 and is offering existing Bolt users a free upgrade.

This means that, as promised, the “invisible” smart lock, which goes inside your existing hardware, now works with more smart home platforms without needing Level’s bridge.

The Level Lock Plus recently got a Matter upgrade, too, but the Lock and Lock Touch are still waiting.

Tapo’s $30 smart outlet works with Matter and keeps track of electricity usage.

The Tapo P210M is ETL-certified and cheaper than Eve’s version of this.

Thanks to Matter, the P210M works with all the big smart home platforms. Only SmartThings supports energy monitoring though, and Matter is still building on that part of the spec, so the best experience may be in the Tapo app.

Ecobee thermostats are getting a new energy management feature.

Home Energy Reports will be coming to the Ecobee app next month. The company says the feature should help users better understand how their HVAC system works and, hopefully, save more energy.

It will show detailed reports on your system’s energy use right in the app, help identify potential issues with the system, and compare energy consumption with others in your area for some healthy competition.

The new feature in the Ecobee app will provide insights into the energy use of your HVAC system.

Flic’s hub is now a scriptable Matter Controller

An update to the company’s Flic Hub LR Controller allows users to program custom commands for Matter devices, including those connected to Flic’s Button and Twist controllers.

Matter support in FlicScript — a JavaScript-based scripting API — will let you “subscribe and send commands to and from any Matter device” (up to 1.2) and create custom solutions for your smart home.

Flic launched the first independent Matter Controller earlier this year.

Level’s latest lock supports Matter over Thread.

As promised, the smart lock that doesn’t look like a smart lock now supports the new smart home standard, bringing better connectivity options without needing Level’s bridge.

The new Level Lock Plus (Matter) costs $329, and existing Level Plus owners can upgrade to Matter for free through January 14, 2025. But while they could support Thread, the Level Bolt, Lock, and Lock Touch aren’t eligible for this upgrade.
