DigiTimes cites supply chain sources in claiming that Amazon's followup to the 7-inch Kindle Fire will measure 8.9-inches and launch at the end of the second quarter of 2012. That's a bit more specific than its original report on the larger Kindle Fire back in early November. The Taiwanese tattler claims that Amazon is looking to take advantage of LG Display and Samsung promotions for 8.9-inch panels while helping to differentiate itself from the existing crop of 9.7- and 10.1-inch tablets already flooding the market. Nevertheless, a 10.1-inch Kindle Fire is also rumored for a 2012 release.
