Lenovo is planning to release an Android 4.0 update for its ThinkPad Tablet in May, the company revealed this week. There is no specific information on the release, but Lenovo teased the update on its website with a May timeline. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will bring voice and face recognition to Lenovo's enterprise-focused tablet alongside other browser and operating system improvements.

Lenovo revealed to PCWorld that it plans to make the update available over-the-air to existing ThinkPad Tablets, but owners won’t be able to take advantage of the new Android Beam feature due to the lack of NFC hardware. Motorola and Asus have both distributed Ice Cream Sandwich updates for their Android tablets recently, with the latter experiencing a few hiccups along the way. There’s no telling if Lenovo’s update will go uneventful, but given its business focus we would hope it’ll be relatively bug free.
