YouTube’s DirectorFeng has released yet another teardown of the new Apple MacBook Neo but in this video they go one step further and upgrade the laptop’s 256GB NAND chip to 1TB of storage, as spotted by 9to5Mac. The upgrade works, but it’s a complicated process requiring some serious skills and a steady hand.
The exec, Brian Lynch, will be Oura’s SVP of hardware engineering, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports.
That’s one way to get MagSafe on the iPhone 16E! According to iFixit, however, even if you make the swap, the older iPhone doesn’t have the fancy MagSafe animation.

On Monday, MotionVFX announced on its website that it’s “joining the Apple team.” MotionVFX is the developer behind a suite of tools for Apple-owned Final Cut Pro, including several AI features like AI upscaling and captions. The suite is currently still available as a monthly subscription catered toward creators, similar to Apple’s Creator Studio subscription.

Some of you may have secretly (or not so secretly) hoped that with Alan Dye out of the picture, Apple would change course and ditch Liquid Glass. No such luck. Dramatic interface changes are, as you might expect, a major undertaking. According to Mark Gurman:
The interface was the result of a multiyear effort that started with visionOS, which itself had been in development for several years before shipping in 2024. Because of the timelines involved, any major reversal away from Liquid Glass would likely take years to materialize.

The Air can’t ignore the new $600 elephant in the room sitting below it, but it’s still the right pick for many.
Following Tech Re-Nu’s dissection, iFixit has shared its teardown of the MacBook Neo. While they still score it just a 6 out of 10 on their repairability scale because of soldered RAM and storage plus Apple’s use of pentalobe screws, iFixit was pleased to find they could swap modular components with another Neo without triggering macOS warnings.

Apple’s new affordable MacBook should have the Windows world rethinking things.
Ahead of Apple’s milestone anniversary on April 1st, Cook wrote a letter reflecting on Apple’s history:
We’ve spent five decades rethinking what’s possible and putting powerful tools into people’s hands. Through every breakthrough, one idea has guided us — that the world is moved forward by people who think different.
Apple has also launched a new @helloapple Instagram account, which will offer a behind-the-scenes look at its devices and demonstrate how they “continue to inspire creativity around the world,” according to social media consultant Matt Navarra.
If you needed another reason to consider Apple’s new entry-level laptop, YouTube’s Tech Re-Nu shared a teardown of the MacBook Neo. Inside they found most components secured with just screws, including modular USB-C ports that are easy to replace. The only part that uses glue is the cable connecting the trackpad to the mainboard.
Apple’s gaming subscription is getting two fantastic indie games on April 2nd, the spooky fishing simulator Dredge+ and cozy interior decorating/puzzle game Unpacking+. They join a growing list of hit PC titles on Apple Arcade, including Cult of the Lamb, added in December, and Civilization VI, added last month.

The Verge’s Antonio G. Di Benedetto found the new MacBook Neo’s performance a bit slow when editing RAW files in Adobe Lightroom Classic. But photographer and videographer Tyler Stalman found the entry-level MacBook surprisingly capable when editing 4K and 6K videos in Final Cut Pro, as spotted by 9to5Mac.
