Trump queues up participation trophies for tech execs at Thursday’s “Golden Age” White House summit.

Tomorrow’s event will announce more than $1 billion in commitments for the Trump admin’s “Genesis Project” AI push and investments from the NSF and Energy Department, reports Axios, including $100 million in credits from something called National Compute.

Meanwhile, Fox News and Bloomberg report Trump will award the National Medal of Science to Elon Musk, Jensen Huang, Sergey Brin, and Lisa Su, while Michael Dell and Satya Nadella are in line for the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. It’s the first time Trump has ever given out the awards, which usually don’t go to well-known tech execs, judging by previous recipients.

Crunchyroll is getting a spot on the PlayStation 5’s home screen.

Sony, which acquired Crunchyroll in 2021, is launching a hub for the anime streaming service on the PS5 in spring 2027, as reported earlier by Variety. It’s still not exactly clear what this hub will look like, but Sony says it will allow players to explore anime series and games, as well as access the Crunchyroll app.

Here’s the magnetic USB-C port that Microsoft built.

What if we had an incredibly easy to snap-on and snap-off magnetic USB-C port? It’s a joy in person. It might still be proprietary, though: Microsoft is patenting the thing and isn’t quite saying whether it’ll let other manufacturers use it. Either way, you can plug any ol’ USB-C cable into the laptop’s female port.

A mysterious Nintendo gadget just appeared in the FCC’s database.

Nintendo describes it as an “NFC Reader Writer,” and I found a vague diagram in one of the files. Maybe it’s something for amiibo? An update to the old Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer accessory, for some reason?

What do you think? Here are the files, if you want to dig through them yourself.

Florida asked a judge to order Meta to remove kids under 14 from its platforms.

A new filing calls for Meta to make several changes for teen users in Florida, like limits on who can message them and a two-hour time limit across Meta’s apps. As Reuters reports, Florida is continuing its lawsuit against Meta rather than accepting a settlement, which AG James Uthmeier called “a slap on the wrist.”

Google fixed the bug preventing color-changing smart lights from changing color.

Following reports on the Google Home subreddit from many users unable to change the color of their connected smart lights yesterday, Google responded that it investigated the problem and rolled out a fix that appears to have resolved the peculiar issue.

Windows 11 Insiders are getting a Battery Status widget for keeping an eye on your peripherals’ power levels.

The new preview feature in Microsoft’s Experimental Preview Build 26340.9616 shows battery levels for wireless headphones, keyboards, mice, and other accessories in one spot. That would make checking to see if my mouse is about to die way less of a hassle, compared to digging through different settings or accessory apps.

Anthropic says its new Claude Haiku 5.5 model is its fastest to date.

Haiku 5.5 is only outpaced by Anthropic’s Opus models in Fast Mode. Anthropic also says it costs “around 75% less” on average than last year’s Haiku 4.5, and it’s the first Haiku-class model with an adjustable effort level. Haiku 5.5 is available now “on all platforms.”
