Mastodon is pressing their new album on literal mastodon fossils.

The band’s latest album, Marrow Deep, is getting a limited-edition vinyl pressing that has actual ground-up mastodon teeth in it. The band was given a bag of the fossils 20 years ago. They weren’t display quality, so they decided to do something special with them. Only 170 are available, and they’re being sold via raffle.

“I need to sweep these mines.”

No notes for this hilarious “Triple-A” interpretation of Minesweeper. The logos at the beginning, the golden diamond telling you exactly where to click, the constant dialogue — it’s excellent.

Go read this report about Double Fine’s failed unionization effort.

Kotaku’s report is a nuanced portrait of a difficult subject to report on. Staffers filed a petition to unionize in early May, but withdrew it on May 20th.

As part of its reporting, Kotaku interviewed Double Fine CEO Tim Schafer, and it published a transcript of that conversation.

This desktop Spotify alternative is less RAM hungry and supports Winamp skins.

If you’re tired of the Spotify desktop app gobbling up a big chunk of your computer’s RAM, Spotifast for Linux, macOS, and Windows takes a leaner approach and typically needs just 100 to 250MB. A Spotify Premium account is required to actually stream music instead of just browsing, and if you need another reason to switch, Spotifast includes a Mini Player that supports Winamp 2 skins.

Google is testing a splashy YouTube Music redesign.

A few Reddit users have reported seeing a new look that features cleaner text, streamlined controls, and, most importantly, full-width artwork on albums and playlists. It’s a huge improvement over the cramped, boxed-in look of the current app. Hopefully it’ll be rolling out to more users soon.
