What a Sony and TCL partnership means for the future of TVs

It’s still over a year off, and might not even happen, but a Sony and TCL partnership has wide-spanning implications.

Fujifilm’s big cinema camera is now IMAX-certified.

The Fujifilm GFX Eterna 55 is now the eighth digital camera to be approved for Filmed for IMAX duties, thanks in part to its tall 4:3 sensor. The other seven digital IMAX cameras are made by Arri, Panavision, Red, and Sony.

I wonder what James Cameron’s favorite film simulation would be?

It certainly looks IMAX-big.

Arduino’s UNO Q is already getting some upgrades.

The original version of the UNO Q paired Qualcomm’s Dragonwing QRB2210 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. A little over three months after it was announced alongside Qualcomm’s acquisition of Arduino, the UNO Q is now available with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and a price bump from $44 to $59.

Air in name only.

Redmagic’s new 11 Air just launched in China. Sounds thin and light, right? Well, sort of — at 8mm thick and 207g it’s smaller than Redmagic’s liquid-cooled 11 Pro, but a far cry from the 5.6mm, 165g iPhone Air. Still, not bad for a phone with a 7,000mAh battery and built-in fan.

The 11 Air is svelte for a gaming phone, but still pretty big — and it’s no smaller than the previous 10 Air.

Samsung adds new sizes of Frame TVs, but is backing away from the One Connect Box.

CES saw only a very minor update to the Frame family, with the mainline adding 75-, 85-, and 98-inch models, and the Frame Pro now coming in a smaller 55-inch size. Oddly, only two of the seven mainline Frame models will support the One Connect Box — the 43- and 50-inch.
