OpenAI’s new video generator, Sora, can make some really impressive visuals... it just can’t make them actually make sense or follow the laws of physics or properly depict people eating or... just watch:
OpenAI is, after a very long time, rolling out the ability to let ChatGPT see and respond to video in Advanced Voice Mode. You’ll need a Plus or Pro subscription to use it.
OpenAI is rolling out Santa in Voice Mode for ChatGPT. You can activate it by tapping a snowflake icon that appears to the right of the text box, but it will only be available until the end of the year.
It’s impressive, but we’re not the only ones who found the results from OpenAI’s new AI video model tend to be a bit weird. It struggles with natural movement, often includes additional appendages or other visual distortions, and sometimes ignores half your prompt directions entirely.

OpenAI worried that ChatGPT would be a dud two years ago. Now, the stakes have never been higher.
The website appears to be functioning normally again. OpenAI says it’s now investigating what caused of the outage that occurred between 3:16PM PT and 7:38PM PT yesterday.
We began to see recovery for API traffic starting at approximately 5:40pm PST, and for ChatGPT and Sora around 6:50pm PST. We mitigated the issues at 7:38 pm PST, and all services are now fully operational.
On the 5th day of ‘ship-mas,’ OpenAI demonstrated ChatGPT’s integration with Apple Intelligence across iOS and macOS, which launches today. The demo showed Siri delivering ChatGPT-generated responses, with a link to view full answers in the ChatGPT app.
The macOS integration showcased document analysis capabilities, and the new camera button on the iPhone 16 can open ChatGPT’s vision feature.
As part of its 12 days of “ship-mas” event, OpenAI announced the release of Canvas out of preview, making it easier to view and tweak lengthy writing or sections of code generated by ChatGPT. The tool can now also execute Python code and be used within custom GPTs.
A message currently displayed on the signup page says that account creation is temporarily unavailable due to heavy traffic. On X, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the company had “significantly underestimated demand” and that it’ll take a while to get everyone access to Sora.
