AGI might be out of fashion in the AI world, but it will be at the center of this trial

Musk’s lawyer, Molo, says that Musk is concerned about what happens when computers are smarter than people, and that there are people who think that’s not too far away. He says that’s artificial general intelligence, and we’ll be hearing about it a lot.

“The defendants in this case stole a charity.”

Steven Molo, Musk’s lawyer, is giving an opening statement in Altman v. Musk. The case isn’t about Musk, he says. It’s about Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. After yesterday’s sentiments on Musk, Molo is making a point of asking jurors to put personal sentiments aside. Musk will be the first witness,

When did graphing calculators get so colorful?

When I was in high school, you had your choice of gray, gray, or gray, but Texas Instruments’ new TI-84 Evo graphing calculator expands the line with more colors that include raspberry, pink, and teal. The new Evo also features a faster processor, more room for graphing, a redesigned keypad, and a new icon-based menu.

“Welcome back, coach.”

We knew Ted Lasso was set to return this summer, and now Apple has released a more specific timeframe: season 4 will start streaming on August 5th. There’s also a new trailer showing that, even though Ted is in charge of a new team, things don’t seem to have changed all that much.

Dbrand has a better angle for turning the Switch 2 Joy-Cons into a gamepad.

Unlike the grip that Nintendo bundles with its latest console, Dbrand’s $19.95 Joy-Lock Controller Holder lets you adjust the angle of the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons using a ratcheting mechanism. You can also add a pair of beefier grips for an additional $19.95, and enhance the thumbsticks with a pair of stick-on textured caps for $9.95.

For around $50 you can turn the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons into a comfortable controller that’s cheaper than Nintendo’s Switch 2 Pro controller.

A GPU with more memory? In this economy?

Nvidia is launching a 12GB version of its RTX 5070 laptop GPU, to go along with the existing 8GB configuration. Nvidia’s blog post explains how this will actually help supply during the RAM shortage:

In order to maximize memory availability, we are releasing the GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU 12GB configuration with 24Gb G7 memory. This gives our partners access to an additional pool of memory to complement the 16Gb G7 supply that currently ships with most GeForce GPUs. The 12GB configuration will exist alongside the current 8GB configuration, and allows our partners to bring a broader range of GeForce RTX 5070 laptops to consumers.

Samsung leaks confirmation of its own smart glasses.

Yesterday we got our first good look at the purported design of Samsung’s smart glasses, and today Samsung itself confirmed they’re on the way, though it probably didn’t mean to. SamMobile spotted a mention of support for “Glasses” in an update to Samsung’s Nearby Device Scanning app, mentioning quick pair support too.
