Aaaaand HBO Max yanks even more shows from the service.

Deadline is reporting that days after HBO Max yanked Westworld, The Nevers, and Minx from the service it pulled Raised By Wolves, The Time Traveler’s Wife, Head of the Class, FBoy Island, Legendary, and Finding Magic Mike.

This move is partly to avoid having to pay residuals on already canceled shows. The plan appears to be to package them up and sell the to a Free Ad-Support TV (FAST) service like Roku or Plex.

E-readers should get a lot more colorful in 2023.

Earlier this year E Ink announced Gallery 3, a new color E Ink tech that promised to be a whole lot faster and more colorful than any of the color E Ink stuff currently available.

So far, a crowdfunded e-reader has been the only gadget confirmed to have a Gallery 3 display. But now E Ink has announced that bigger players will also be bringing Gallery 3 to e-readers in 2023, including Boox, PocketBook, AOC, iFlyTek, and iReader.

The FTC claimed Microsoft misled the EU, it appears the FTC was wrong.

In its recent filing against Microsoft the FTC claimed that the company misled EU regulators over its earlier acquisition of ZeniMax. Now the EU is telling the publication MLex that the FTC’s complaint is wrong. The EU apparently never asked Microsoft to guarantee ZeniMax games be available on non-Microsoft platforms. Ouch.

AI might not take all the writing jobs, but some could be in trouble.

This week on the Vergecast James Vincent joins us to explain ChatGPT and ponder a future where AI writes a lot of the web. Then Nilay has strong feelings about the FTC suing Microsoft, Richard has feelings about Apple’s surprise privacy moves, and I only bring up E Ink once.

The Kindle is 15, the Scribe is disappointing, and our internet bills are as expensive as ever.

On today’s Vergecast we talk a LOT about E Ink, but also about babies? Okay, we talk about US broadband too. Anyways, this is a fun episode and one of David’s last for the next couple of months. Give it a listen.
