The Dropout led Jennifer Lawrence to drop out of Adam McKay’s Elizabeth Holmes biopic.

In an interview with the New York Times, Jennifer Lawrence said she thought Amanda Seyfried was so good as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in The Dropout that she will no longer star in Bad Blood, also based on the rise and fall of Theranos. Why do the two projects have different names? Because The Dropout is based on a podcast from Rebecca Jarvis, and Bad Blood is based on the book by John Carreyrou.

    Who Is Jennifer Lawrence Now?

The Simpsons crossover with Death Note was... good?

Apparently when you pair the really good professional voice actors of The Simpsons with the really good animation studio behind Death Note you get a hyper-violent mashup that’s thoroughly meta, and incredibly fun. Also the people Lisa Simpson kills to save the world? They’re the roster from the 1994 SNES game, Fighting Baseball.

Netflix is nabbing a Peacock show.

Peacock hasn’t had a bonafide hit yet, but it’s losing one of its buzziest shows, Girls5eva. The comedy about an aging girl group who reunites has failed to do big numbers at Peacock, a streaming service that has itself failed to do big numbers. Hopefully, it will find a bigger audience on Netflix which will have exclusive rights to the third season while sharing streaming rights with Peacock for the first two.

Check your candy! You might find Doom running in your Milky Way.

Okay yes, there’s been a meme for ages now of ludicrous things found in candy that riffs off the long-time urban legend of drugs and needles in Halloween candy. But someone actually put a tiny computer in a candy bar that runs the MS-DOS iteration of Doom.

Cerebral is laying off 20 percent of its staff.

The company came to notoriety on TikTok where it advertised its mental health services—especially those focused on ADHD. Since then it’s come under regulatory scrutiny for its Adderall and Xanax prescription.

The new Prime Minister of the UK is a crypto bro.

Back in April, when Rishi Sunak was still Chancellor of the UK, he asked the Royal Mint to create an NFT. It was just one part of his plan to turn the UK into a hub for crypto. He later resigned, kicking off the government crisis leading to Boris Johnson’s resignation. Also once he tweeted about tea. He will be the third Prime Minister of the UK this year.
