One of the primary architects of Netflix’s golden age is leaving.

Scott Stuber, the chairman of Netflix film, is leaving the company to start his own media venture. If you’re not spending your days in the trades you likely won’t recognize his name, but Stuber is a big reason why Netflix has so many Academy Awards now.

His extensive relationships in Hollywood helped woo big filmmakers like Greta Gerwig and Martin Scorsese to Netflix, and his tenure as chairman led to Netflix being the most nominated studio at the Oscars for three years in a row.

Apple Music Classical has a CarPlay support now!

I’m using an exclamation point to celebrate because this is exciting news if you’re an Apple Music Classical fan. Thanks to much improved metadata, the app is infinitely better than Apple Music for finding and surfacing classical music. Yet despite it being made by Apple, it’s been slow to come to the other places iOS apps usually come. That means there’s no official tvOS or iPadOS app, and there hasn’t been support for CarPlay.

But now you can update Apple Music Classical to version 1.2 and get it in CarPlay. That would have been nice to have during my 24-hour road trip this past weekend.

The ability to use AirPlay in hotels is technically coming to iOS 17.3.

I say “technically” because while the feature will finally be on phones updated to 17.3, we still don’t know what hotels and hotel groups will actually support it.

When Apple originally announced the feature last year IHG Hotel and Resorts confirmed it would be coming to their properties, which includes the Holiday Inn, Kimpton, and Intercontinental brands. We haven’t heard much since.

    Hopefully that changes soon.

Starlink is coming to John Deere.

It makes sense that a new deal will see the company outfitting new and existing hardware with Starlink. That should allow people who live in the middle of nowhere to better take advantage of the high-tech tools John Deere has been packing inside recently. Because right now the rural internet situation is hellish.

As for cost, John Deere hasn’t settled on a price for the new connectivity option, but it does plan to generate 10-percent of its annual revenue from software service fees by 2030.

Swatting is such a problem, even the White House has to deal with it.

President Biden was, fortunately, away when someone called this morning to claim the White House was on fire.

But he’s not the only one dealing with it. The practice of calling 911 to send emergency services or swat teams somewhere has gone from the early victims like influencers, streamers, and random internet commenters, to politicians, judges, and even prosecutors, like special counsel Jack Smith.

Heck yeah, an E Ink phone that makes sense.

Phone makers keep experimenting with ways to incorporate E Ink, from secondary displays to relying on it as the only display, but its lower refresh rate can make experiences feel hampered compared to LED and OLED.

But Infinix put E Ink’s Prism tech on the back of a phone, leading to something very customizable and very pretty.

and image of four phones. They’re all covered in vibrant geometrical patterns.
I don’t hate having a customizable case just… built in.
