People are poking each other again on Facebook.

Is it 2004 all over again? There’s been a 13x spike in poking over the last month, Facebook announced on Threads. And the culprits behind The Great Poke Surge of 2024 may surprise you. Half of them come from the 18-29 year old demographic, the company told TechCrunch.

The social network attributes the spike to a few design changes, including adding the ability to poke in search results, as you can see below.

Where do undelivered Amazon packages go?

One destination may be a shop like Pile ou Face, a store in Brussels that sells unwanted Amazon packages by weight. The operator says he has a contract with Amazon to sell packages that were never retrieved from pickup places, got lost, or were returned. Otherwise, they’d be destroyed.

Sometimes customers score smart watches or other pricey items. But sometimes, things get a little... weird. “A lady got 100 toothbrushes for dogs,” owner Arnaud Userstam told Reuters.

So, where exactly is that lead in your Stanley Quencher?

The 3D X-ray startup Lumafield did a CT scan of a Stanley Quencher water bottle to show you without destroying one (but if your viral insulated cup does happen to break, you should return it).

You can see where an airhole in the stainless steel outer layer is vacuum-sealed with a small lead pellet, which appears red in the image below. That way, it never comes in contact with your beverage in the inner flask or with you on the outside.

Donald Trump has even more to say about the TikTok ban.

Appearing on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Trump explained, again, why he no longer supports the push to ban TikTok. “...without TikTok, you can make Facebook bigger and I consider Facebook to be an enemy of the people along with a lot of the media.”

And as for his own unsuccessful push to ban the ByteDance-owned app, he now claims “I had it banned just about, I could have gotten it done. But I said, ‘You know what, but I’ll leave it up to you.”

Ignore the “development game menu” in the latest update to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

The Spider-Man 2 update adding features like New Game Plus, time of day options, mission replay, and more, arrived today. But players quickly discovered something wasn’t right with version 1.002.000, which included a “development game menu” that wasn’t meant to be there. Players who poked around told Polygon they found cheats and more.

Insomniac Games later warned players not to tinker with the menu or risk corrupted saves. A hotfix is on the way.

PayPal and Venmo finally roll out support for the iPhone’s tap to pay feature.

No external card reader needed. Paypal announced Thursday that businesses can now accept Venmo or Paypal contactless payments right on their iPhones. All they need is the respective app and an iPhone XS or newer device.

PayPal first promised its iOS apps would accept Apple’s Tap to Pay tech back in 2022. On top of accepting payments, businesses can also issue refunds, add taxes, accept tips, and even send receipts via the app.
