Another entry-level electric truck is no more. Today the embargo lifted on Chevy’s press junket in Ann Arbor to test out the upcoming Silverado EV, and while the power and range impressed many, the updated pricing information left a lot to be desired. The originally promised $40,000 base model (available in 2024) is now set to start at $50,000. It’s almost as if announcing pricing a year or more before you start making deliveries is a totally useless exercise!

Nikola Motors says “multiple” battery-electric trucks were damaged in a fire at its facility in Arizona. But while there have been several incidents of EV battery fires in recent years, the company claims that these fires may not have been accidental.

Croatian automaker Rimac announced it delivered the first Nevera hypercar to a customer in the US. The quad-motor, 1,914 horsepower Nevera has a top speed of 258 mph, making it the fastest production EV in the world. Rimac wouldn’t name the customer, but given the $2.2 million price tag, I think you can eliminate about 99.9 percent of the US population as a suspect.
