Hyundai throws hat into the “fake manual transmission for EVs” ring.

The South Korean automaker is the latest to reveal plans to develop a virtual manual transmission for EVs. The head of Hyundai’s N performance brand tells Car Experts:

The idea is to come pretty close to the feel and sound of the DCT [dual-clutch transmission] in the i30 N hatch... This is what we want to deliver, complete with the same some jolt and downshift vibrations you experience in our ICE N cars. Sound-wise, though, it’s very challenging, especially those pops and crackles you get in the i30 N, but we’re still working on this technology to bring the DCT in-car experience of a combustion engine car to similar emotional levels in our Ioniq 5 N EV.

Did the Tesla Semi really haul 81,000 lbs of cargo for a 500-mile trip?

Elon Musk says it did, but Gustavo Henrique Ruffo at autoevolution has some questions:

In the Semi delivery event, Musk did not answer how much the Semi costs, when other customers will receive their vehicles, how much it weighs, how many trucks Pepsico received, how big the battery pack is, and several other reasonable questions any other truck maker would be willing to solve. In the video, all we see is an accelerated trip. Elon Musk said it had “no jump cuts” and that the entire video would be posted on YouTube. It is not available yet.
