    The LCS is shrinking.

Just a day after the League of Legends World Championship concluded, Riot has announced that the LCS — the game’s top league in North America — will be contracting. Both the Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses are exiting, bringing the league to just eight teams for the future.

The news follows turmoil with LCS players earlier this year, and league mainstay TSM also exiting the competition. (It’s been rough for esports all around.) Riot says more details on “the full, long-term global strategy” for League esports and the LCS are coming in early 2024.

The opening ceremony for the annual League of Legends championship was another impressive blend of music and tech.

    Everything is O-clay.

After reports surfaced suggesting that the studio behind Chicken Run is running out of clay, Aardman released a statement assuring fans that there was in fact “absolutely no need to worry.” The company expects a “smooth transition” to new providers, meaning that no one needs to make a p̶l̶a̶s̶t̶i̶ scene.

A monster weekend for entertainment releases.

And I mean that literally: the Godzilla spinoff series Monarch: of Monsters is now streaming on Apple TV Plus. But it’s not the only big release of the week, with Nintendo’s remake of Super Mario RPG out on the Switch, and the subversive Scott Pilgrim Takes Off streaming on Netflix.

Elsewhere, the excellent action game Downwell is now on Apple Arcade, and Nintendo surprise-dropped some titles at this week’s indie event: organization RPG Backpack Hero and turn-based folktale Howl.

    Yoshi’s blocky world.

A new crop of Super Mario-themed Lego sets has popped up, as spotted by the folks at Brick Fanatics. There’s a sunken ship and Bowser with a sweet new ride, but my favorite is this adorable Yoshi set. They aren’t expected to release until January 1st, giving you plenty of time to play Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Super Mario RPG in the meantime.

Lewis Hamilton’s Fortnite skin is for the dog fans.

Another celebrity is entering the virtual realm of Fortnite. This time it’s Formula One star Lewis Hamilton, who will be available in the item shop on November 17th. Hamilton looks stylish as always (though I would’ve loved if his skin had the Daft Punk racing helmet), but more importantly, the set comes with a glider and back bling featuring his adorable dog. Hope they like racing around Tilted Towers.
