Last week’s official unveiling of EA’s new soccer franchise was surprisingly light on actual gameplay, but now we have a longer clip that dives deeper into how the game will play. EA Sports FC 24 (we really need a good shorthand for that title) launches in September.

There’s a lot to do at Super Nintendo World in LA, ranging from a Mario Kart ride to a Mushroom Kingdom-themed restaurant. But up until now there’s been a big omission: Toad. Well, now a Toad character will be joining Mario, Luigi, and Peach walking around the park, hanging out with fans, and taking pictures. If you see him, make sure to ask if that’s a hat.
Is to check out this week’s new entertainment releases. Leading the way is the ridiculously titled Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, a big, silly action movie about AI.
Elsewhere, season 2 of both Foundation and The Afterparty premiered on Apple TV Plus, Oxenfree has a great new spooky sequel, Ridiculous Fishing has returned for Apple Arcade subscribers, and the sci-fi anthology Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire is streaming on Disney Plus.
Despite having no trailer and almost no promotion, How Do You Live? — the latest film from director Hayao Miyazaki — is out in Japanese theaters now. That veil of secrecy was, naturally, by design.
“A poster and a title — that’s all we got when we were children,” Miyazaki says. “I enjoyed trying to imagine what a movie was about, and I wanted to bring that feeling back.” We’ll have more on the movie next week — stay tuned!
