A good day for Apple Arcade releases.

A batch of new titles just hit Apple’s subscription gaming service, including the excellent sequel Skate City: New York and the very first Final Fantasy game. It’s a good way to kick off the year after a relatively quiet 2024.

You can sign up now to check out the network test for Elden Ring’s upcoming spinoff Nightreign. There aren’t many details, but those who get in will be able to “play a portion of the game prior to the full game launch.” The test is available on both Xbox and PS5 and will be live for three days starting on February 14th.

A sci-fi world to get lost in.

I know we’re all thinking about the Switch 2, but Nintendo isn’t quite done with its current console. The company just released a new trailer for the Switch remaster of Xenoblade Chronicles X, a sprawling open world RPG that I loved when it originally hit the Wii U. The new version launches on March 20th.

Layoffs could be coming at Splash Damage.

The studio announced that its multiplayer shooter Transformers: Reactivate has been cancelled, and as a result it will be “scaling down to refocus our efforts on other projects.” While no specific layoffs were announced, the studio says that “a number of roles across the studio are now potentially at risk of redundancy.” Splash Damage is currently developing an open-world survival game codenamed Project Astrid.

The National Gallery of Denmark is putting together a large-scale showcase of Michelangelo’s work by utilizing “brand new, high-quality 3D-cast replicas” of sculptures that are currently scattered around the world. According to the museum, the event will feature “the majority of Michelangelo’s sculptures in one place,” making it the most comprehensive exhibition of his work since 1875. If you’re in Copenhagen, things kick off on March 29th.
