A Switch 2 case with some intriguing mechanisms.

Mechanism has teased its first Switch 2 accessory coming this summer. The company, which made its name with the Deckmate accessory ecosystem for Steam Deck and other handhelds, has unveiled the Basegrip Plus case.

It works with its vast ecosystem of platform-agnostic attachments, but contains swappable parts that only work on the Basegrip Plus, from rear plates to bigger Joy-Con 2 grips. Some of them will be available as free 3D files, if you want to print them out yourself.

It won’t move to production until it verifies that the Switch 2 actually fits in it, a cautious mindset that I respect (one that many accessory companies aren’t bothering with). One thing to note is that the case won’t fit in the dock at launch, but Mechanism plans to create an adapter.

The cloud game streaming dream is alive and well.*

At least, that’s the case if you have a Valve Steam Deck or another Linux handheld, like the new SteamOS version of the Lenovo Legion Go S. Nvidia just launched its native GeForce Now app, and many of us here at The Verge have already put it to the test, attempting to perform countless parries in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, lining up headshots in Splitgate 2, and other timing-based feats to test how it performs.

The verdict? Surprisingly great, both in terms of performance and battery efficiency, but with oh-so-many asterisks.

Staples wants a piece of the Switch 2 launch action.

Staples is a place you might go if you need office supplies without waiting for a (likely cheaper) online delivery. Unexpectedly, it’s also where you might just be able to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 on launch day, June 5th. The company has shared a list of participating stores across the US offering the console on a first come, first served basis, and it’ll limit customers to one per day.

What other brick-and-mortar retailer selling the Switch 2 can let you scoop up both a console and a roll of bubble wrap at once?

The latest news in brain chips.

Following the news that Valve CEO Gabe Newell’s stealthy company, Starfish, plans to produce its first brain chip later this year, there’s a report that Elon Musk’s Neuralink has almost tripled in value in less than two years. Semafor reports that a recent $600 million investment valued the company at over $9 billion.

The technology has only been implanted in three people so far, the latest being a non-verbal ALS patient who used it to narrate this video.

Several of CISA’s top officials are gone.

The tumultuous year under the Trump administration continues for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), as many senior officials across the agency have recently left, or will soon be leaving, according to a report by The Washington Post and cited by Cybersecurity Drive. These departures punctuate numerous setbacks the agency has faced since Trump took office, including being told to halt its election security efforts and almost lapsing the CVE program that some of the world’s biggest companies rely on to track cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

“It feels like the wrong people are leaving,” said a second CISA employee, who insisted on anonymity to speak freely. “All of these departures make it feel like people are leaving the mission and creating a vacuum.”
