Bob Iger now says he has “deep respect and appreciation” for Hollywood’s striking workers.

When the Screen Actors Guild joined the Writers Guild of America in striking against the AMPTP last month, Disney CEO Bob Iger called workers’ demands for better pay and a cut of streaming profits “disturbing” and unrealistic.

During Disney’s quarterly earnings call this week, though, Iger sang a rather different tune insisting that he has “deep respect” for the striking workers, and that “it is my fervent hope that we quickly find solutions to the issues that have kept us apart these past few months.”

    Sure, Bob.

A24’s already greenlit a Talk to Me sequel.

Directors Danny and Michael Philippou’s gen-z horror Talk to Me has proven to be a surprise hit for A24, and the studio’s hoping that the brothers will be able to recreaste that box office magic with a newly-announced sequel. No word yet on what the sequel will be about or when it might debut, but the first film’s still in theaters now.

Another Pokémon Scarlet and Violet anime series is coming to YouTube this September.

Following in the footsteps of previous Pokémon games like Sword and Shield, and Arceus, a new digital-first, animated series inspired by Scarlet and Violet is in the works.

Similar to Pokémon: Twilight Wings and Pokémon: Hisuian Snow, Pokémon: Paldean Winds introduces new trainers whose adventures are similar to those featured in the games, and the trailer makes it seem like the four-episode-long series will follow them all across Paldea when it hits the Pokémon Youtube channel on September 6th.

Netflix is stonewalling the Korean actors union seeking better wages.

Though the South Korean entertainment industry’s exploitation of its workers is well documented, writers and production workers attached to Korean Netflix projects have spoken out about how the streamer’s making things even worse for them.

The success of shows like Squid Game might make it seem like on-screen talent fares better, but in a new report from the LA Times, the Korea Broadcasting Actors Union claims that Netflix won’t even meet with them to discuss the pay inequality that makes it hard for supporting actors to make ends meet.

Happy Monday! Here’s the first 10 minutes of Across the Spider-Verse.

The AMPTP’s refusal to meet the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild where they are is why Hollywood’s double labor strike is still on, and the double strike is part of why Sony took Beyond the Spider-Verse off its schedule of movies set to premiere next year.

There’s still no word on when Beyond the Spider-Verse will hit theaters. But in the meantime, Sony and IGN have shared the first 10 minutes of Across the Spider-Verse — presumably to tide folks over.
